I still think people tend to largely vote mostly based on ideology developed from their family experiences; their particular beliefs and biases; and personal political convictions and life experiences. The media, especially in this era of polarized cable news networks, reinforce for most people what they already believe. That said, reporting can influence elections where I think there are more undecided voters or where candidates are more unknown entities. I think that happens more on a local level than anywhere else these days.I think elections are influenced by many factors, the media being just one of them.
